Atlanta Downtown Hilton
Problem
Upkeep and maintenance are the
priority for one of Atlantas
premier downtown hotels. The
quality management team at the
Atlanta Downtown Hilton does
not spend its money unwisely
and knows how to solve problems
economically. The glass facade
on the front of the building
needed a facelift and replacing
the existing glass was not economically
feasible. At the same time,
the afternoon sun was creating
a real problem for the HVAC
system and the UV rays were
bleaching the carpets and window
treatments. The engineering
and facilities teams found a
single source in Window Expert,
Inc., Inc. and 3M
Sun Control films to solve these
issues.
Solution
According to Window Expert,
Inc., Inc. President Jeff Franson,
We knew that the facility
people were concerned about
the look of the film on the
glass from the interior and
exterior. We also knew that
we needed to show the engineering
department some real energy
savings. As a result we choose
a 3M
film that would satisfy both
parties. 3Ms
P-18ARL film blocks out 73%
of the heat coming through the
glass, 99% of the UV, and made
the sunlight softer and more
comfortable for guests. Most
impressive was the new look
to the front of the building.
The Hilton saved tens
of thousands of dollars using
our firm. The windows look great
and the energy savings will
pay for this installation in
3-4 years.
Results
Thousands of dollars saved.
Modern look achieved. A more
comfortable, UV-free environment.
Fading of interior valuables
greatly reduced.
The Window Expert, Inc. Difference
Regarding the installation,
Project Manager Pat Coyle adds,
When working in an environment
like a Hilton, every consideration
must be taken in order to make
sure the hotels operations
are not impacted by our crews.
We worked daily with the resident
staff to coordinate installation
around room availability and
the various functions at the
hotel. We were on time, on budget
and the guests never knew we
were there.
