Energy Efficient Retrofits and GSA Lease Renewal

GSA has not put out definitive guidance on the matter but within the industry, it looks as if GSA might be using the leverage of lease renewal to force private landlords into energy efficient retrofits to meet federal requirements.

To start, GSA is already beginning to measure its inventory in advance of the 2015 deadline. By December 2010, GSA is scheduled to assess at least 5% of its owned buildings greater than 5,000 gross square feet and at least 5% of its leases greater than 5,000 gross square feet for compliance with federal energy efficiency requirements for the purpose of tracking leased assets that already meet such requirements.

GSA has also required additional information on green building and energy efficient measures for all applications for improvements and lease renewals for federal buildings. Finally, GSA has created “Build Green Coordinators” in each of its 11 building regions for the purpose of providing private developers with technical assistance concerning green lease solicitation build-out requirements and LEED certifications.

Clearly a football guru,  uber-talent scout and lethal game-day tactician, Coach Belicheck’s in a league [...]]]> From a management standpoint –  even today –  New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick is the most admirable Coach in the NFL. This is hands down. Not even close. A corner office  mangement ethos those of us at WFD respect and strive towards. The bar is set high.

Clearly a football guru,  uber-talent scout and lethal game-day tactician, Coach Belicheck’s in a league of his own. Do you think anyone from China’s delegation spent as much time last week sweating out a meeting with Obama than the boys from New York did in preparation for The Professor in New England? Not a chance.  

Yes, the Jets won this one game – a Big Game – but the Jets are the Jets are the Jets and the Patriots are still the best football organization in The League, 10 years running and it’s because of the way things are done in Foxboro. No pithy slogans, but  real meaningful actions. Teachable moments, our President would say.  

Never mind the handful of Super Bowl rings and conference titles to date, but how many coaches year after year earn the visceral respect of fifty grown ‘supermen’?  Scary strong men  paid millions of dollars to run at reckless speed to knock adversaries on their asses for 60 minutes?  Not many – look at the turnover rate of Head Coaches in the NFL – it’s frightenig to sellers of pension plans.

Any Patriots fan paying attention new immediately what the story was with Wes Walker – the home teams #1 offensive threat - standing on the sidelines during the Pats first drive in the biggest game of the year.  Wes put his own foot in his mouth talking coyly about T-Rex’s weird fetish. Not cute enough was the not-so-public response from the Patriots brass and dealt with by Coach Belichick in parochial school fashion. You sit. The Patriots  will play without you – even if only for a moment.

What a lesson. No one gets a free pass.  Made me happy for a moment my son Brady was wearing a #12 jersey. (then Crumpler dropped the ball in the end zone! Yikes!!)

Knowingly putting your best offensive threat on the sidelines during the biggest game of the year is tactically nightmarish. Name me another Coach you know would do the same. Take your time.

Wes hadn’t missed practice, broken NFL rules, or lost his mo-jo. He had forgotten for a moment what it meant to be a Patriot playing for Coach Belichick. Like the true-pro he is, Wes did his penance, buckled on his gear and then put all 185 pounds on the line in an effort to win for his Coach and teammates for the remainder of the game. 

No whining, just a  winning attitude. The type of player who excels over time in New england. Just like Wes. Or #12. An attitude not drafted up on white boards or presented through power point slides, but forged through principled based actions witnessed for a generation. Actions manifest in the day to day of winning  leaders like Coach Belichick – the best CEO in football.

This is in a bid to give a detailed breakdown and analysis on what to expect when you purchase the Safety and Security Window Films for your building.

It is important to note that these warranties will only come into play on your behalf if your 3M Safety and Security Window Films were installed by a 3M authorized installer. Under those circumstances, if any fault or discrepancies are noticed with the window films themselves or with the installation, the warranties spring into action. DIY window film installation is not covered by the warranties.

If in the installation of the window film, the 3M Impact Protection System Adhesive or Profile was used on the Safety and Security window film, the warranty period will be 10 years from the date of installation.

Note: This does not cover failure which results from disintegration of the underlying substrate, movement of the structure exceeding specification for elongation and/or compression, or changes in appearance of the adhesive due to dirt or other contaminates.

If the window film is found to be defective under the warranty, the Seller (who is 3M of its authorized dealer) will replace the quantity of film that has proved to be defective and provide removal and reapplication labor FREE OF CHARGE.

This warranty is only provided to the original purchaser and is not transferable.

The 3M Safety [...]]]> 3M is a leader in the window film market; in fact, they developed the first ever window films and have introduced classic and innovative ways in which window film can be used to enhance a building and to protect its occupants. One of such innovations is the 3M Safety and Security Series.

The 3M Safety and Security Series of window film is used to protect a building from smash and grab crimes. It also offers a form of security from bomb blasts or rough weather by holding the windows together and protecting the occupants of the building from harm and injury which can be caused by flying shards of glass.

There are a lot of really good reasons to use 3M Window films for the window film needs of your building particularly as 3M is constantly working on solutions to further improve on the effectiveness of their window film. Where the 3M Safety and Security Window Films are concerned, 3M and the 3M Authorized Dealer warrant that the window film will maintain its Solar Reflective Properties without cracking, crazing, or peeling; that it will maintain Adhesion Properties without blistering, bubbling, or delaminating from the glass; that it will maintain appearance without discoloration and also that it will maintain strength, tear, and penetration resistant properties.
